Invited is an immersive dance-theater work that transforms any event space into a living social landscape. Part cocktail party, part choreographic study, Invited blurs the lines between guest and performer, the piece invites audiences to step inside a world of intimacy, tension, and play, where every glance and gesture carries weight.

Audience Experience

From the moment guests arrive, they are welcomed into an active environment: music fills the air, performers circulate, and the room feels alive with possibility. Rather than sitting as passive viewers, audiences move freely, choosing their vantage points as scenes unfold around them. Performers weave between clusters of guests, turning everyday social dynamics like eye contact, laughter, and flirtation into heightened choreography.

This format creates a sense of being “inside the piece,” where audience members are not asked to perform but are enveloped in a shifting interplay of intimacy and spectacle. The energy is at once celebratory and charged, a cocktail party that slowly reveals its layered emotional architecture.

Installation Format

Invited is a modular and highly adaptable work that can be staged anywhere a party could take place: galleries, lofts, ballrooms, black box theaters, rehearsal studios, or site-specific event spaces. Each venue becomes a collaborator, shaping the choreography and flow of the evening.

 

The original production featured live music, curated food and drink, and site-specific lighting design. Future presentations can scale from a fully immersive, multi-sensory experience (including live band, catering, and environmental design) to a streamlined dance-only version that integrates seamlessly into existing venues and events. This flexibility allows Invited to be tailored for both intimate gatherings and large-scale festivals.

Presenter and Technical Notes

  • Adaptability: Works in a wide range of spaces with minimal build-out required.
     

  • Scalability: Can tour as a full production with live music, lighting design, and event elements or as a focused performance featuring only the dance.
     

  • Audience Size: Flexible—intimate (50 guests) to larger gatherings (200+).
     

  • Runtime: Approx. 65 minutes, with optional pre-performance or post-show mingling.
     

  • Technical Needs:
     

    • Open floor plan with no fixed seating.
       

    • Basic sound system (band optional; can provide).
       

    • Simple, flexible lighting plot; portable lighting package available.
       

  • Additional Options: Catering, beverage service, and full installation design can be coordinated upon request.
