Arrangements
2020
Brooklyn, NY

Arrangements is a 75-minute performance-installation where dancers begin as living sculptures before breaking free into an intricate choreography of movement, sound, and image. This immersive work examines how the female body is viewed, constructed, and constrained, inviting audiences to witness the tension between presence and objectification in a striking gallery setting.
Audience Experience
When audiences enter the space, they encounter performers embedded within large-scale, wearable sculptures dispersed throughout the gallery. For the first 30 minutes, the work functions as a living installation: visitors are free to circulate, observing the performers as sculptural presences from shifting vantage points. This proximity invites an intimate engagement with the blurred boundary between object and body.

After this installation period, the performers begin a gradual collective transition; shifting out of the sculptural forms and relocating into their opening positions. The audience is then guided to take their seats, and the performance begins.
Over the course of the 75-minute performance, movement unfolds in dialogue with projected video, text fragments, and an original sound score. These layered elements construct an immersive environment that probes the ways the female body is seen, contained, and politicized. While the installation phase allows freedom of movement, the performance is seated, creating a distinct shift in perspective: from active objectification to collaborative witnessing.

The full experience spans approximately 105 minutes (30 minutes installation + 75 minutes performance) and is designed for galleries, museums, or theaters that can support both an installation phase and a seated performance experience.
